XPS 9560 - two monitors is causing the laptop LCD to sleep

I have an XPS 9560 with two external monitors (FHD, not 4K) and after 18 months of working the three screens fine, now it boots fine, but after the screen shot off activates and then I come back onto the system, the laptop LCD screen stays shut off and is no longer even recognized by the OS (Windows 10).  It obviously works, just the not coming back from the power sleep.  

I have the power configured to shut off the screen after 15 minutes on battery and 30 minutes on the cord.
