XPS 9700 - Maximum external displays and does it work with the apple XDR monitor?

@Nathparrett  Couple of things to be aware of:

• The default configuration of the XPS 17 is to have the Intel GPU control all display outputs, even if the system has an NVIDIA GPU.  The Intel GPU can run 3 displays -- but if you turn off the built-in display, then you can run 3 external displays.  Unlike Mac and Linux systems, the built-in display does not always count toward your maximum GPU count.  There are various ways you can connect those external displays depending on their resolutions and refresh rates.
• If your XPS 17 has a GeForce RTX GPU (not GTX), there is a BIOS option that can be set to have the NVIDIA GPU take direct control of all display outputs.  That GPU supports DisplayPort 1.4/HBR3 compared to the Intel GPU only supporting DP 1.2/HBR2, and the RTX GPU also supports 4 total displays.  If you have a chance of running the XDR display at its native resolution, this would be how you'd do it.  The fact that the Intel GPU only supports DisplayPort 1.2 and doesn't support aggregating multiple DisplayPort interfaces to run a single panel means it maxes out at 4K 60 Hz.  I don't know if the NVIDIA GPU would take you to 6K, but again that's the only way it MIGHT work.  The downside to configuring this BIOS option is that the NVIDIA GPU will even control the built-in display, which means it will have to be running all the time, which in turn means you're going to take a battery life hit, and possibly a heat/fan noise hit as well.  (For reference, the 15-16" MacBook Pros are hardwired to have the Intel GPU run the built-in display and the discrete GPU run the output ports.  The XPS 17 9700 gives you some flexibility here, but not enough to give you the "hybrid" setup implemented on those MBPs.)  But if your XPS 17 9700 doesn't have an RTX GPU, then unfortunately you won't have this option at all.

@Nathparrett  Well unfortunately Apple's only guidance for running a Pro Display XDR display on Windows is within the context of doing so on a Mac that's running Windows via Boot Camp (link).  And the guidance there says just to make sure you have the latest Boot Camp software running.  So it's possible that that package includes additional software/drivers that are necessary to run an XDR display on Windows, but that of course doesn't help people running Windows on actual PCs.  If Apple won't provide the necessary guidance and software to do that, then you might be stuck.

I read somewhere that a tool called Brigadier allows drivers to be installed so will try that and see if that works.
