XPS L502x - Running  Windows 10 - Freezes on installing Quickset - Quickset never got installed - Now it even freezes when I pre

I have been in love with My XPS L502x, despite its weight. I had upgraded it to windows 10 when the free update was offered and had mostly used the windows 8 64bit drivers and it was functioning 100%. For the last few weeks it had started hanging and slowing down during running so decided to do a  fresh install of windows (I had not done a fresh install for years together, had been doing upgrades). Windows got installed fine, though it took pretty long time. All the drivers got installed fine.

But when installing Quickset - the laptop would just freeze and had to be hard booted by pressing power button for long. Now windows freezes everytime I press the F2 key (the one with wifi tower symbol). Quickset never got installed - tried it multiple times - windows just froze when starting installation.

Not sure why would anyone still be interested in helping out with this oldie - but I am trying to find a solution, and it still runs great.

Quickset is not used with Windows 10. It has been replaced.

Is there any way I can assign a function to the touch panel 'buttons' and resolve the windows freezing on pressing the F3 (the wifi on/off) button. I have changed the primary action of function keys to 'function keys' that way inadvertent pressing of F3 key does not do anything, it freezes windows only when 'Fn' key and F3 key are pressed together
