xps 7590 type_c display issue with Ubuntu 18.04.3

Hi all,

I have an issue  with my new XPS 7590.

I have installed Ubuntu 18.04.3 and I am trying to use an external monitor.

I am using an USB-C cable to connect the laptop to the monitor, which works fine with a resolution of 3840 x 1080.

However, with the highest resolution ( 5120 x 1440 ), the monitor turns black and nothing happens.

Note that if I replace my new XPS with my old XPS, it works fine with the highest resolution.

So I suspect that the hardware is not well handled by Ubuntu but I am not sure.

Any leads ?

Edit1 : dmesg gives me the following error typec_displayport port0-partner.0: failed to enter mode

PS : I have installed the kernel 5.3.0.0 rc7 and the latest Nvidia driver (430.26)
