AW2725DF DLDSR/DSR unusable over DP 1.4

DLDSR/DSR only works on this monitor via HDMI at native 1440p all the way up to spec -144hz 8-bit. When connected via DP at native 1440p, however, even at resolutions/frame rates as low as @ 60Hz 8bit (where DSC should not be used), DLDSR/DSR does NOT work. This issue would indicate that the monitor is using, or communicating that it is using, DSC at resolutions and refresh rates that do not require DSC. While in theory, DLDSR should work even with DSC enabled, it doesn’t when the monitor requires more than one internal head unit to operate at its native resolution and refresh rate. This monitor should absolutely not need two internal head units, leading me to believe it’s a poor DSC implementation in general.

This a serious issue for a lot of people who would like to use DLDSR/DSR over DP 1.4, and needs to be addressed.

    The Alienware displays team has stated to us this morning that the AW2725DF will not receive a firmware update to allow the disabling of DSC (Display Stream Compression) in the Menu. DLDSR (Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution)/DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) is only supported by Dell on the AW2725DF HDMI 2.1 port.

    Enable Dldsr and dsr on AW2527DF and other monitors possibly

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000

    "EnableTiledDisplay"=dword:00000000

    accidently discovered by messing with registry tweaks by putting value to 0, 1 to restore 360hz

    "copy-paste from reddit"

    On my windows 11 work well after add this line in registry editor. Max refresh rate will be 240hz and 8-bit :)

    @DELL-Chris M

    Hello Chris, is there any word on a similar feature coming to the AW3225QF? There is much demand for it as indicated by the thread here

    Thanks for keeping us updated, much appreciated!

    For anyone interested, I recently upgraded to an ROG Astral RTX 5080. I'm coming from a 4070 Ti. I can now use DLDSR over DP1.4 at 360Hz on the AW2725DF.

    Making a statement like they did for the AW 3225QF dolby vison toggle would suffice. I am returning regardless, a gimped hdmi port stuck at 144hz whilst msi has 360hz. I am not switching to hdmi if i want to use dldsr, there should be a dsc toggle. Do better dell

    @johnburgundy44jeezus

    Nvidia clarifies that DSR/DLDSR can be used with a DSC-enabled monitor. The only requirement for it to work is that the display needs to be connected to the GPU with a single cable. This won’t be a problem for most gamers, but a few GPU/monitor configurations require two or more display connections to work (particularly first-generation 4K and 8K displays).

    @eriksrvenge why not? Title says "DLDSR/DRS unusable over DP 1.4 due to poor DSC implementation" and in another thread you stated "DLDSR/DSR does not work when DSC is being used, this would indicate that DSC is not operating correctly via DP 1.4"

    I am simply stating that DSC has nothing to do with it not working, as Nvidia states DLDSR/DRS works with DSC, as long as only a single cable it being used to connect to the displaY.

    Now what you could try it disable Gsync, as this is not a native Gsync monitor. I know from past experiences that Gsync on a non-native Gsync monitor can cause oddball issues.
