Motherboard replacement

Hi, I have an alienware aurora r6 with an intel i7 7700, and I'm wondering if its worth it, and possible to upgrade the motherboard to support an i7 7700k, or 8700k. Would the liquid cooler from the old mobo fit on the new one, and would dell take back my barely used parts, for credit to buy new ones?

            Thanks.

Hello! So in general Alienware motherboards tend to be proprietary as they have extra connections for the light effects and other things. You may be able to fit a different OEM board in the case, but the components probably wouldn't work. You may be able to upgrade the 7700 to a K variant but only if its supported which I think it would be. Anything else like an 8 series would have to have a new MB. As for returning your parts for credit, Dell does not have a program like that.
