m15 R6, SSD parts

I ordered and received this

Dell M.2 PCIe NVME Gen 3x4 Class 35 2230 Solid State Drive - 512GB

as a second drive for my laptop.

Separately, I ordered these parts

ASSY,BRKT,SSD,THRM,2280,SIF (1)

Screw,M2.0X4.0,Phillips Head,Machine Screw,Nickel Plated,17R4 (2)

thru the Dell chat, but for some reason, that order was cancelled.

Is there a direct way I can order these parts?

I searched the Dell website by part name and number, not found.

After 32 minutes on the 1-800 number, a service request has been generated, and apparently a work order is being generated and they will get back to me... you know, because there is no easy, sensible way to order two screws and a bracket.

Thus one may see the "direct" way to order I was hoping a forum member could help with

Dell finally sent the right heatsink.

For anyone that ever gets the Dell M.2 PCIe NVME Gen 3x4 Class 35 2230 Solid State Drive - 512GB

the heatsink needed is ASSY BRKT SSD THRM 2230 SIF, item # FJ75H

It lowers the temp of the SSD by about 6°C versus the heatsink for the 2280.

These cannot be ordered from Dell online.  If you're in the US, the number to call is

    1-800-357-3355

Hi @sprang welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

There are many Dell community threads saying that Service Request was created to get the free Dell "missing" parts (including Dell M.2 2280 SSD Thermal Shield) that were not provided with their Dell order.

I ordered the parts thru Dell chat, and the order was cancelled, no reason given.

I didn't say they were free missing parts.

I wanted to see if a forum user knew of a direct way to order the parts.

The Dell My Account page shows a service request dated 4/7/22, so maybe an automated response forwarded this to someone, otherwise I will re-order the parts.

    Thanks for responding though.

As a follow-up, I received the two screws, item # H7TNM, and the thermal bracket item # 29GT8.

As can be seen from my original post, the SSD I purchased was the 2230, and yet the bracket sent is long like the 2280. Is that bracket correct, and will work... or should I have been sent the bracket item # MHKK8?

As an added follow-up, the order that was cancelled for unknown reasons listed the bracket as item # 26X1Y. Is that the one I should have?

I know this is a community forum, not Dell support, but it really would be a good idea to include these $5.00 parts with the SSD.

Last post, installed the second SSD with the parts Dell sent.

As can be seen from the picture, the bracket/heat shield on the left fits the 2230 SSD, the one on the right is too long, the screw does not hold the drive in the socket.

Unless that is the bracket always used for the second SSD slot, I guess as long as I don't drop the laptop sideways, the SSD should stay in the socket.

Not a quality of service I expected buying alienware.
