Can somebody provide more clarification for emc194364. It does not say what Symmetrix boxes are affected by this, what Dart codes are affected by this ?
I also modified the Cause statement to make it more clear that the problem is the Celerra's and not the Symm's:
During Symmetrix NDU microcode upgrades, Celerra will lose all paths connecting to the Symmetrix. Even though all the paths and devices on the Symmetrix will come back up in approximately 15 seconds, it may take Celerra longer to recover completely from this event. The recovery time is directly proportional to the number of devices visible to the Celerra and the number of paths from Celerra to the Symmetrix. The Celerra can only tolerate 90 seconds of total outage to a Symmetrix device. If the Celerra has not fully recovered its devices and paths after 90 seconds have elapsed, the affected Data Mover will panic...This can occur against any Symmetrix device at any microcode version; no microcode or Symmetrix model is more or less susceptible.
There really isn't much more to tell other than what's in the solution. Based on the number of paths and the amount of devices down that path, this could happen on any Symm at any microcode when your Celerra is at or below the code levels listed in the solution.
It has only been reported to EMC on four occasions: three of those were a 71 to 72 NDU, and one was a 70 to 71 NDU. There may have been more incidents that went unreported, but we know that there were many NDUs that went without problem.
Therefore, we suggest you are at or above the patch level indicated before your next Symmetrix NDU.
I modified the solution to make it more clear what NAS code versions were affected:
5.5.35.1 and earlier 5.6.38.2 and earlier

added DART code revs affected. Message was edited by: BillStein
