DART code from 5.5 to 5.6

Hi,

We installed NAS code 5.5 on our NSX which is not in production yet. Now we
want to upgrade to NAS code 5.6 . So what is the best approach to install is it
fresh install or upgrade the NAS code . Can anyone please provide the
documents for fresh install or upgrade procedures from 5.5 to 5.6 .

Thanks,

Please get in touch with your local EMC CE or designated Customer Support person for performing this activity.

As dynamox said - this will be normally an upgrade process - however, technically a fresh install can be done but that will erase everything on the box - you need to configure everything on it.

Also, fresh installation required formatting the volumes on the backend DMX for the control LUNs - which requires approval and proper change process from EMC.

So, again, the best option is to contact your local EMC team and they will guide you accordingly and do the needful with you.

    Thanks,
    Sandip

most likely it will be done as an upgrade (out of family upgrades will require downtime as all datamovers have to reboot at the same time.) Unless you are EMC partner/employee you will need to contact your local team to schedule the upgrade.

We had ours upgraded. We had an older version of 5.5, and it was upgraded to 5.5.44.408 first, then to 5.6. Actually the 5.6 is not complete yet, because that's another visit. Yes, it needs to be done by an authorized EMC tech.
