The team who manage our VNX have imposed a limit on NAS shares of 2TB. This limit has been set as they believe that the NDMP backups complete faster when the share sizes are kept to a managable size.

This imposed limit causes operational issues - 2TB shares aren't large enough for some of the data sets we are looking to serve. For this reason we end up with a load of shares for the same pupose.

e.g. Finance_Reporting_1

Finance_Reporting_2

etc.

From an end user perspective, this is overly complex.

Is it possible to create symbolic links to provide a more logical share presentation? Does limiting shares to 2TB really make such a big difference for backup and recovery times?
