Lefteris is absolutely right. Use Centera Viewer and issue set notification in the CLI Window to configure your environment. The modem is not used for dial-out.

As for the dial-In of EMC Customer Service: Use set security lock and set security unlock to lock the nodes. If the node to which the modem is attached is locked EMC Customer Service is not able to dial-in. These settings will depend on your remote access policy.

Actually if a node is locked, EMC is still able to dial in via the modem.  We would be limited, however, to only logging in to the cluster with the Centera Viewer with the "admin" account.  The "admin" account is the only account that has permission to unlock a node.

Have you considered implementing an ESRS gateway?  It is a secure device that allows EMC to remotely connect to equipment over the ethernet network and will allow the site to stop using modems.

Just simply attaching the EMC supplied modem to the Centera node is what's required. The node has modem sensing software to detect the modem every few minutes. Other comments here suggest ESRS, EMC's Secure Remote Gateway software. This is FREE software supplied by EMC.
