I am currently planning the config for 31 new drives that I am adding to our CX500 to support VMWare.

My question is about raid type and number of raid disks. I am adding 15 300gb 15k drives to a new DAE, and 16 146gb 10k drives to two other existing DAE's. My plan right now is to create two raid groups. The first will consist of 14 300gb drives in a Raid 1/0 config, and the second will consist of 14 146gb drives also in a Raid 1/0 config, these 14 drives will be in two different DAE's 7 in each DAE. Are single Raid 1/0 groups good, or should I do MetaLuns? I cant seem to figure out an advantage to doing Metaluns in this scenerio.

Any advice? I am fairly confident that if total storage capacity is not a concern, and IOPS is the primary concern then Raid 1/0 is the way to go. These two raid groups will support about 15 servers with a total IOPS of about 2200 ( this number is most likely much lower, but I am trying to be as cautious as possible).
