boot cx3-40f

We purchased two used EMC cx3-40F storage processors and drives from another university. We intend to use them to replace our current academic SAN which uses a CX600 and CX700 and about 240 drives and 4 Dell storage servers..

When I fire up the used cx3-40F's they both act the same way. I see blinking yellow lights on the back of the storage processor units(both A and B channel) and a solid yellow light below a green light on the front panel. I borrowed a serial port cable from another department and can see the "BIOS" messages from the storage processors. They show information about the hardware and end with an error message that says that the unit can't find the Master Boot Record. Here is the last few lines of the "BIOS" message:

FLARE image (0x00400009) located at sector LBA 0x011E804C

Disk Set: 1 3

ErrorCode: 0x00000216

ErrorDesc:

FRU: All System FRUs

Device: BOOT PATH

Description: Invalid Master Boot Record (MBR) Error!

Rev: 01.51

Expected: 0xAA55

Actual: 0x0000

EndError:

ErrorTime: 06/18/2013 19:14:20

FCDMTL 6 [9.0.0] DVM Disc Comp- Dev List Size: 8

FCDMTL 6 [9.0.0] TPM Notify: st=0xA000000, flg=0x208, cmd=0x0

Link Event: 0x00031001

EndTime: 06/18/2013 19:14:33

After this message the unit waits for about two minutes and then reboots and I see the same messages again. The SP is looping and repeating this over and over.

Both cx3-40F's are doing the same thing. Where can I find information on what the yellow lights mean, and perhaps more information from this error code?

The dump of the entire "BIOS" message is attached.
