chkdsk error

I have a a lun connected to my NAS server which is reporting an error and informing me to run chkdsk. should I have to run this volum connected to my array?

    if you have any data on this LUN, back it up to safe location and run chkdsk DriveLetter: /F

    you have a LUN from Clariion connected to what kind of NAS ?

    is it running straight up windows 2003/8 or is it running some vendor NAS software (Netwin ?)

    It is running Windows 2003 r2, purchased from Dell to be our NAS head. I called Dell and they said to to running it on the volume
