Problem with PSU taking enclosure offline

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can help shed any light on a problem we experienced over the weekend on our AX4.  One of our disk enclosures was taken offline due to a faulty power supply.  The PSU took the enclosure offline and the EMC engineer reset the LCC hard to bring the enclosure back online.

The enclosure was taken offline despite the unit having redundant PSUs in it.  Has anyone out there with more experience of working with EMC kit ever come across similar problems?

We are frustrated that we run into the problem with the enclsoure despite the two PSUs in it.  We are also concerned that the EMC dial home facility didn't pick up this error (we had previosuly verified with EMC that this was up and running).

Following the resolution of the incident EMC have kindly closed the ticket without answering the above questions and though the more experienced people on here may be able to shed some light on the situation.  I am going to be reopening the ticket later this afternoon in order to try and get to the bottom of the problem.

Thanks in advance

One thought is that when the PS failed it failed in a way that faulted the LCC. But the other LCC should have been operational and the hosts should still have had access to the LUNs using the other SP path - the LUNs would have trespassed when the path to that side of the SP failed. Do you have a single SP or dual SP configuration?

PS. reopening the case and asking for an root cause analysis should provide the answer

Going to try and reopen the case today.  Keep missing the US opening hours online.  Cannot bear to log a call about it over the phone.

Will let you know how it goes this afternoon.

    Thanks

I believe you can re-open the origianl case thru PowerLink - skipping the phone - just do a search for the case number or it should also be viewable in the cases section on PowerLink for your account.

We have a dual SP configuration and this is what is so frustrating.  The system was designed to be fully redundant.

I have managed to reopen the case so should have some progress soon.
