Returning an item and ordering a different one - will it come in time?

Hi there,

I hope you're all doing good.

I ordered an Inspiron laptop as a Christmas present for my daughter.  It arrived on 18th November.  I'm in the UK.

Since then I regretted the decision - I wish I had spent a little more on a quad-core processor, rather than a dual-core processor.

So earlier this week I have ordered two new Inspirons (both quad core), one for my daughter and one for my father.  I intend to return the original dual core one for a refund (it hasn't been powered on or used).

However, I'm anxious that the replacement(s) won't arrive in time for Christmas, and I only have until the 2nd to return my original order.  What I don't want to do is return the original on the 2nd Dec and for the two new orders not to arrive in time.

I am sitting watching the order status page every day with a bead of sweat dripping down my forehead as it sits on "order confirmed", wondering if it will dispatch in time or if I'm going to get berrated by my wife for ruining my daughter's Christmas.

Aside from being a fool for changing my mind, what do you think?

Thanks!
