TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I bought a renewed Dell laptop in August 2023, expecting it to perform similarly to my previous Dell laptops. I couldn't have been more wrong. I am a college student and bought the device before leaving for study abroad to ensure I wouldn't have to worry about replacing my much older laptop during that time. The laptop got very light use that first semester and then daily use when I returned to the US in January. By February it started acting up. I would connect it to my external monitor and the date/time/display would stop working properly, showing the time from when it was last plugged into the monitor and having the icons appear tiny even after rebooting. This would come and go but what was a much larger issue was that the battery also stopped showing the correct percentage. What was worse is when the laptop would die, it would not turn on for DAYS/WEEKS DESPITE BEING PLUGGED IN. The first time this happened I thought the computer was done for but to my surprise it came back on a few days later as normal, I thought maybe it was a fluke and brushed it off. With my college-student budget, a new laptop wasn't a possibility. This happened a few more times, with me never using the laptop unless it were plugged in to ensure it wouldn't die. During my summer courses, it got so bad I used my first check from my summer job to buy a cheap device, the idea being it I could use it while I sent my Dell in to be fixed and then go back to the Dell when I got it back. I sent my Dell in July and didn't receive it back until September. I moved during this time so I didn't actually get back to my laptop until I cam home this December for Christmas. I open the box and plug in the laptop and once again it is having the same problem, if not worse. The laptop despite being plugged in has not turned on ONCE since being taken out of the box after being "repaired". I contacted dell and have proceeded to get INTENTIONALLY FORWARDED TO THE WRONG DEPARTMENT BY THE STAFF MEMBERS. Every time I ask to speak to someone who can help process a return for my defective device, (it being defective means that returns can be processed after a month of the purchase date <Incorrect. After the first 30 days from the Dell invoice date, a return/refund is not possible. DELL-Admin>) I ensure that the person on the other end of the line can confirm they are transferring me to someone who can process a return I end up back speaking to a technical support staff member rather than a customer care staff member, who say that I need to speak to a customer care staff member. One staff member said that the best I could do was trade in the device, I asked if dell would accept a nonfunctional device if it had been sent in for repair to Dell and then returned non-functional, she said she didn't know, the answer is no, they only offered me "free Recycling". SO WHAT NOW DELL GIVE YOU MY DEAD LAPTOP FOR MONTHS AGAIN TO SEE IF YOU CAN GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME? GET ENDLESSLY TRANSFERRED IN YOUR PHONE TREE FOR HOURS? MY LAPTOP IS DEAD OUT OF THE BOX AND DELL WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!
