How do I factory reset a DD580?

I would like to start from scratch. I want all the data and password reset. I do not know the sysadmin password. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

There is an image you install on a USB drive which you boot from that will allow you to setup the device from scratch.

I would refrain from doing this without keeping EMC by my side. Why don't you contact support once and see if they have any steps listed ? or they might point you to the right set of people for the job.

On a side note, I could find some forums where people have managed to get it work, however I'm not sure if those steps apply here.

Hi there, you would need to raise a support call, the USB rebuild image is only only intended to be used by EMC support engineers.

In that case google is your best friend. Or you might explore options where you can pay for this service. Again! you'd have to call EMC for the same.

Is it?  I remember 5.1.1 (time when I started to work directly with DDs) had USB version for download from regular dl page.

Hi Hrvoje, it's possible that in the days of my.datadomain.com you had a need for the USB image and they added it to your account for download. It shouldn't have been there by default unless you actually requested it and they added it. This method is no longer possible with support.emc.com and it still needs to be requested but really only for support folk.

    Regards,

    Jonathan

Nope... it was there for everyone to be seen and downloaded.  If it was mistake to be there, that's another thing, but when you selected 5.1.1 you could choose from normal rpm and USB.  I actually used USB version as I wanted to downgrade just received DD160 back then, but I never ever requested it to be available nor did I speak to support.
