Issues setting up CIFS share to accept Hyper-V export

We've done this before to other NAS, targeting a file share to accept an export from our Hyper-V hosts. Typically, we give the host server full control of the share, and all works fine. But the same procedure with our DD2200 does not work.

The share itself works fine, where we can create files, drag full folders, or whatever onto that share, but the hyper-v export fails every time. We still think it's a permissions issue, especially since the base share, /data/col1/backup is set for root permissions only. We have to jump through a bunch of hoops to create a subfolder and then share that subfolder with the right permissions (host-server\SYSTEM).

Anyone have any other suggestions for allowing the hyper-v host to send exports to our CIFS on the data domain?
