RAID Disk Upgrade
I have a Dell Server P4200/C1000 with PERC-2 RAID Controller filled with 6-18GB drives. we have perchased replacement drives, 36GB, planning to expand our capacity. While I was able to rebuild a lost drive last year, not sure how to go about upgrade and removing good drives.
Plan to break one drive at a time, insert new drive and rebuild RAID 5 disk, then go to next drive. After all 6 are replaced, expand the drive size.
Am I missing something? What is the best option for removing a functioning drive to be replaced? Also, any estimate for each rebuild time?
Thanks, Doug
