Brand new system - mouse problem?

I've just plugged in my shiny new xps 420 and the first thing I've noticed is that the two buttons on the side of the mouse won't take me forward a page and back as I expected.  Instead it's taking me down the page and up. The mouse suite is installed but I can't see any way to change it.

Could some kind soul explain what I'm doing wrong please?

I heard there was a driver issue on those systems.  Check the download section and update the driver.

Look at the settings in the control panel. If it's not a Dell mouse, go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest software for it.

It's the Dell Premium mouse bundled with the system as here http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&sku=570-10357 .  Could well be wrong but I couldn't find any drivers for it and had hoped a brand new system would be shipped with working drivers.

Just spotted something else, a white semi-circular line across the mini viewer - looks like a crack.  If that needs replacing I'll also need to buy a decent keyboard  and mouse - both  are small and cheap.  That on top of finding out that the motherboard is a Dell proprietory job and a poor quality 24" screen and I'm becoming tempted to send the whole.thing back. I've got 28 days to decide. I expected to be a little more impressed. Would rather build my own and know I can always get the parts I need.
