I have been trying to fix this laptop for 2 days now. The laptop was powered off during a BIOS update (not by me, mind you). I've read through other forum threads, but so far the problem hasn't been resolved. I will outline what I've tried below.

1. Use AMIUCP to extract the r00 and r01 files as AAL12.hdr and AAL13.hdr.
2. Put these files on a USB flash drive, plugged in on the power-button side of the computer
3. Remove the battery from the computer
4. Hold the "End" key while plugging in the charger

The computer powers on, the fans spin at full speed, the keyboard backlight turns on, but the issue does not resolve itself.

I've tried these steps with the A06, A08, and A12 BIOS updates. I've used a 4GB FAT flash drive and a 8GB FAT32 flash drive. I've tried adding extra files for AAL12A06.hdr (swap A06 with A08 and A12 when using those BIOS updates).

When using the A08 or A12 update files, the computer powers off after a couple of minutes. When using the A06 update files, the computer stays powered on seemingly forever. Pressing (not holding) the power button does not turn the computer off, the keyboard backlight does not stay on.

In all cases, the computer returns to its non-functioning state. Pressing the power button does nothing. No lights, no fan spins, no anything. At this time, I firmly believe I have read every BIOS-related article on the internet regarding the Inspiron 5455, 5555, and 5755.

The laptop is not under warranty. I don't have the experience or tools to desolder and reflash the BIOS chip. I don't have the money to buy a new motherboard or computer. I feel as if I'm getting "somewhere" with these steps, but I must be missing something.
