Is McAfee Livesafe even needed?
I recently purchased a DELL Inspiron 17 3000 laptop. It came loaded with a 1-year subscription for McAfee Livesafe. Is McAfee Livesafe even needed? Does Windows Defender do the same job? Is it beneficial to have McAfee Livesafe installed on the laptop?

No it is not necessary.
If you practice safe surfing then Defender will be plenty.
McAfee does that to all manufacturers.
They offer it for one year free then try and hook you for renewal fees.
