Not showing SACL after EMCopy using Emcacl tool

After copying some data using EMCopy to a local drive (from NS80)

using flags /o /a /sd /ignoredhsm /de /secforce /lg

If i run emcacl I can see the SACL is auto-inherited

If I do the same on the destination it doesnt display any information about the SACL

(All other permissions match)

Im using this to compare permissions

Any reason for this?

Shah7,

According to the emcopy documentation, you need:

/a      Copy auditing information. Requires that you have

         the "Manage Auditing" User Right on both the source and destination

         computers.

You have used the /a switch however, do you have 'manage auditing rights on the source and the target?  You mentioned an NS80 is the source, what is the target?

You are using the /lg switch, does the platform you are migrating to support the MSRPC calls for local users and groups?  This switch relies on that ability.

You should be able to check whether or not the account performing the copy has this right, by using a local security policy mmc directed at the machine account in question (some NAS platforms support this, some don't).  From a windows server hit start --> run --> secpol.msc, and then connect it to another computer.

Otherwise keep in mind that one of the key advantages of emcopy over robocopy is that EMC supports the tool, so if you are having an issue with it, open an SR against the serial number of your NS80, and USD engineering should be able to help get it resolved.
