Dell 7400 DDR4 ram configuration
Hi, I'm the happy recipient of a Dell Latitude 7400 but there's a nagging question about the RAM configuration.
It originally came with 16gb of 2666mhz DDR in slot 1.
And the previous owner upgraded it with another 8gb of DDR4 2400mhz screenshot as below.
Is this combination of RAM throttling the speed down to 2400 - and I also thought there were speed advantages to be gained by having identical sized and spec RAM in each slot.
May it actually be a bit faster if I remove the 8gb "upgrade"? I'm not running particularly memory hungry apps at the moment.

It depends entirely on the CPU installed - the memory controller is onboard it.
You can look up the memory specs for the CPU -- but if DDR4-2400 is working, chances are that's the maximum speed of your CPU.

Looking at the CPU's that came with your model they all are rated at DDR4-2400.

So unless you are able to overclock your memory there is no need for the 2666mhz.

Not sure of your BIOS, but you can look to see if it says "Interleave" memory?
