Hi there, i've verified my purchase of a 2nd hand latitude 5500. UK support were not able to unlock it with the master password they provided and suggested a new motherboard. That would cost more than I paid for this, the master unlock code contained all alphanumeric except a "[" near the end which i thought was odd.

My bios version hasnt been updated since 2020 which isnt cool. I wonder how I might benefit from a 2022 version. 

The Dell installer also asks me for this admin password. Maybe if I had the direct file that didnt use this installer i'd be able to flash force it in cmd. But it just opens the installer and asks for master password.

The admin password seems to be set just for security and I cant see if any bios has been changed for any particular reason. But secureboot is on, I cannot flash using the f12 either as it also asks for admin password. in fact I cannot change any bios settings whatsoever and its really frustrating. I installed a 4GB RAM module from my old Acer but I didnt intend to upgrade it necessarily. But i'm pretty sure i'm very much restricted if I were to try upgrade the SSD, which again I don't need to. But it does not even allow me to connect any external HDD devices via USB.

I've been searching the web for days and nobody has any solution, not that bios-pw.org or another one which you have to pay for. They said they were unable to remove the admin password for system number ending in 8FC8. 

Does anyone have any ideas? And would updating my bios (if possible) make it so the Dell provided password actually works? I assumed maybe the critical bios updates might have fixed laptops like mine from being unlocked my Dell.

I know the purpose of the admin password IS to prevent any access. But somebody must be able to get my BIOS updated some other way? Am I just particularly unlucky, as the support guy said it usually works, but sometimes not.
