boot drive not appearing as /dev/sda on PE2850
I have a PowerEdge 2850 with PERC 4e/Di with firmware 521s running RedHat Enterprise 4 Linux. In the system bios, I have Channel 0 of the PERC controller configured as RAID, and Channel 1 of the PERC controller configured as SCSI. Channel 0 is configured as 1 logical drive (RAID 1) and channel 1 is sent to the os as physical drives for each of the 4 drives. I want the RAID 1 drive to show up as /dev/sda. Unfortunately, the physical drives show up as /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc, and /dev/sdd, and then the RAID 1 drive shows up as /dev/sde. Under any other BIOS configuration (RAID/RAID or SCSI/SCSI for the 2 controllers) the RAID 1 drives in this configuration will show up as /dev/sda. Is there any way to get it to show up as /dev/sda in this configuration?
