After Bios update computer doesn't boot........

Yesterday, I updated 1.4.0 bios to my XPS700.  After the update, everything was working great.  Just updated the Bios and did not do anything else.

Today when I try to power up the computer I got a message saying 'keyboard failure' error.

I do have USB keyboard so I disconnected all the devices that were connected to back USB ports and reboot with regular keyboard.

Computer did go pass the Dell page but it hangs up on next page......tried to reboot in safe mode but can not even get into safe mode.  Also, try to get in the set up menu with F2 key but same thing, it hangs up.

I got #1,2,3 diagnostic lights on and checked the cables to my hard drives and other media drivers, and it looks good.

What else can I do before I call the tech support?  What have I done to my computer?  Did I make a serious mistake?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mahalo!

I have the same issue also. I called tech.support and did the power down, disconnect power cable, hold down start button for 10sec. re-connect and power up. The computer boots up and all systems are a go. Try to restart and back to original issue. I found that powering down and dis-re-connect the power cable then restart would reset something and give me a normal restart. I tried to re-install the bios update and had the same issues. I also tried to go back to 1.1 and the update would not take.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks a million!  I'll give a full power down after work and see if I can restore or load the earlier version of the Bios........

Just got off the phone with T/S and I'm with the good Capt. and getting a new MOBO also. Seems that the updated BIOS corrupted something and the computer will not start normaly nor will it accept re-flashing the BIOS. It will start after a power down and dis-connecting the power. I have read in the DCF's that alot of people have had no trouble with the update and I am thinking that it may be only the Pent.D's that are having troubles. Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

I also have the same problem after upgreading the BIOS version.  My Core2DUO XPS700 will not boot anymore.  It does not recognize the OS.  Any ideas before I call the support people?  Thanks.

I have P 955 EE edition and did the complete power down and I am OK!

I will keep my computer in stanby just to see if there is another fix for our problem.

Same here. The only way I can boot is to take CMOS Battery out for a minute and put it back. Then I get a message that battery is low push F1 to start and it starts windows. I tried to put previous version of BIOS it would not go computer would restart several times and stopped booting at all. I get amber light on start button instead of green and nothing else. Removing battery solved this problem but I have to do it every time I start PC. This Is _.S.

As far as I can see in order to boot my XPS700 I have to manually guide to the boot partition, since the BIOS does not recognize RAID0 array.  I need to do this every time now.  Definitely, I am calling the support line.  This is ridiculous.
