Hi,

I have a Dimension 4700c that just had the power supply go out. The problem I am having is that this came with a 270w power supply (P/N F6442), not the 160w that are readily available online. The 270w version I have found a few places and it costs about $90. I  would prefer to not spend more than about $35. Would the 160w PSU work well enough in here or should it be the 270w?  I have a large frame case from Dell that is not being used. Could I take out the MB, CPU, and all the drives from the dimension and swap into this larger case? If I am able to do that could I then just buy a PSU that is 270w or more that fits in the larger case and has the proper connectors? The larger PSU's seem to be dramatically cheaper than this custom supply from Dell.
