Boy did I mess up..... I started getting BSODs on my Dell Dimension E310 running XP Pro. after about 5 minutes of activity. I didn't seem to matter what I was doing, whether I'd accessed the internet, or if I'd just turned on the PC and was sitting at the desktop - after about 5 minutes I'd get the BSOD. It was always a 0x08E stop code referencing Atapi.sys.

AFAIK Atapi.sys is the driver for the CD/DVD device. So I disabled the device in device manager.

Now I get nothing but the BSOD with a 0x07E stop code on kdcom.dll.

Doesn't matter what I try, safe mode, safe mode with networking or command prompt, last good configuration, or normal mode - it all ends up giving the same kdcom.dll blue screen. The system ignores my efforts to hit F2 for the BIOS setup or F12 for the boot menu.

If I can't use a disk, what do I do?
