Disk eject proximity sensor problems

I can not eject a cd using the monitor buttons. The 3 dot buttons work when touched but the cd eject button only lights up when a finger is in close proximity, it does not eject when touched. The button was working with Windows 7 but has stopped after an install of Windows 8. The light is also slightly dimmer on the left hand side when lit.

I have looked through the support and driver pages but I can't seem to get this working. Please help.

    Hi ptho,

The Touch buttons on XPS one 2710 are controlled by Dell On Screen Display Application. You may try installing the application from Here. Follow the onscreen instructions and restart the computer if prompted.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any further questions.

I have dual boot Win 7 and Win 8 Pro if that makes a difference.

I installed the Dell OSD and updated bios (as recommended after system analysis). The problem is still there after restarting... all buttons working except the cd eject.

    Hi ptho,

Are you able to eject the optical drive from within the operating system. You may Right Click the Optical drive in computer and click on Eject.

Do you see a symbol on the computer screen when you use the On-Screen buttons. For example

Please try using the On-Screen display buttons in windows 7 as you said that you have dual boot operating system.

Please reply with the findings. Will take it further from there.

Its working. I dont know how but the DELL OSD settings must have overridden the Win 7 settings.

    Hi ptho,

Please share if the OSD buttons are working in both the operating systems or not?
