Optiplex 7010, problem with Visiontek Radeon HD7850
I have a mini tower Optiplex 7010 that I upgraded to a Visiontek Radeon HD7850 http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=a587748. Does anyone have problems with the system detecting the pci card when booting up? Specifically from a cold boot (system powered down and at room temperature). I have attempted different cards and they don't show this symptom, but they are all older pci-e 2.0 cards versus the above which is 3.0.
All steps taken:
- Visiontek in different system: No issue
- Different Graphics Cards in 7010: No Issue
- Different Power supplies in 7010: No Difference
- Update to latest 7010 Bios (01/13): No Difference
- Even attempted different Video Card bios from another manufacturer with a bit more updated AMD Bios: No difference
To get system to see card:
- System must be "warmed up" per on state for about 7 minutes or so.
- Powering system down, laying system on side and powering back up the system is more prone after 1 to "see" the card.
It sounds like from the above its a cold solder joint or faulty capacitor on the motherboard. But the other graphics cards not showing the issue is what is throwing me for a loop. The only two theories I have to account for it would be again, there is a specific error in the pci-e 3.0 circuitry route.
Does anyone or even a Dell tech have access to a current gen AMD card with an external PCi-e adapter to test against on this system?
