Sound only during Error Message
I have an XPS 410 /w Vista SP1 /w integrated sound and cannot install R171788. I uninstalled the original audio driver, some time ago, to install SP1. Now I'm trying to install the new driver to get more control over audio inputs.
During attempted installation, I get error message:"Exit Error= Device Object not present, restart system and run setup again." In the process of continued trying, I uninstalled 15XXXX driver and now have no sound at all except during the time when the error message is visible.
When I close the error message, I get "No Audio Device is Installed" messages at all sound places (tray, control panel). If I go back thru the install process, when the "Exit Error" message appears I have sound until I close the error box.
Any thoughts as to how I can get the new driver installed?

Thanx for the info. I have successfully installed R157052. Bought this computer with Vista installed. Really appreciate the help.

Try installing R157052.EXE, which is the integrated driver for Vista.

Also, if you have just installed Vista, remember that you will need to install the Chipset driver as well. You can find the remaining Vista drivers via the following link:
