Studio 19

I downloaded windows 8 into my studio 19 touchscreen. Upgraded from 7. Since the change over my touchscreen will not work. Is my Studio touchscreen not compatible with window 8 touch? Do I need a special driver for my touch to work in 8? I did a compatibility test and it shows my PC is compatible. Talked with Tech support in software and hardware and not one of those idiots has a solution. Spent 4 hours on the phone with the tech support and all I got was you should go back to 7 touch 8 will never work on your PC even though it is a touchscreen . Anyone can you help my understand why???????  :emotion-39:

Thanks in advance (TIA)

    Hi hangout,

If you have touch input hardware that isn't specifically designed for Windows 8, but is compliant with Windows 7 certification, you will experience touch responsiveness at least as good as it was on Windows 7. Because Windows 8 touch requires a higher degree of responsiveness and precision, Windows 8-certified touch PCs provide a much better experience typing on the on-screen keyboard and using certain controls than on Windows 7 certified PCs. For example, touchscreens that support fewer than five simultaneous touch points cannot enable certain Windows 8 features and applications.

Dell has not tested Studio 19 with Windows 8. For more information on this, you can refer to link: http://dell.to/U7cW0Q

You can try installing 'NextWindow Touch Screen driver' and Application in compatibilty mode (for windows 7) and see if it works: http://dell.to/U89Eyu and http://dell.to/WNFU71

To know more about compatibilty mode, you can refer to link: http://bit.ly/WcIF2t

    Please reply for further clarifications.

Thank you so much . It truly helped. I had spend endless hours with technical support from India and not one person could help or had no clue . I called Dell tech support (a paid service) this morning for help with your response to me and 2 techs support couldn't help or wouldn't. On the third phone call a chap looked at your reply and said he can definitely help out with my issue. That was the first positive reaction in 4 days from them.

There are few people in the" solution station" from Dell that actually listen and are patient. I want it to be know that a chap named Varadharajan ID# Non-public info removed as per TOU>
was the first person in four days was kind and sympthatic and very helpful in the tech department from India. People like him are good for the company. Keep him he is a gem. My hat goes off to you Varadharajan. Thank you.
