Two Questions

Artifacts on the boot screen is a sure fire sign for a dead card, or could it be something else?

Is a Dimension 8200s motherboard compatible with the 6800 line of cards?

    1. First, I would re-seat the card into the AGP slot then, I would be sure you have the latest driver for your card. If you have not done a reformatting of your system, sometimes that will help with conflicts.
    2. The 6800 series, except the Ultra, would work in your machine without changing the power supply. Be sure you get the AGP model.

Thanks for the responses paparandy, I have done everything possible including buying a 400w power supply and installing it trying to get this card(5900xt) to work, but I believe its just a DOA card now, the only thing I haven't tried is reformatting.

To makes thing worse the company I ordered it from will not get back with me I have left 4-5 messages over the past two days still no response. Luckily I ordered it with a credit card and they have agreed to fight it for me now.

I ordered just the standard 6800 128mb from another vendor yesterday and was reading on here how the 6600 wouldn't work on an 8200 motherboard for some reason. Was hoping the 6800's weren't having the same problems.
