X300SE
This graphics card has to be the worst one I have ever had.
and after some research finding out that it costs a mere £35
I rang dell tech and I was clearly told that this card was more than capable to run all the games out
and I would not need a more powerful card unless i was using CAD!
Where do they get there info from??
Doom 3 - what a joke won't even run on min settings
UT2k4 - Full of graphical glitches
DVD's - Grainy and poor quality playback any fast movement causes pixels to blur
to mention just a few.
It is very anoying to have a high spec machine only yo be let down by a very poor cheap graphic card imitation. At most I can now use this PC to play music (At lest the Audigy 2 card is up to scratch) untill I can afford to replace it, what a let down.

DVD playback works just fine on my x300se, and as far as it goes, it does RUN Doom 3, but it's basically the performance level of a Geforce 3. 2D stuff like DVD playback, etc. should work fine on it though.I'm running the newest drivers from ATi's site, 4.11 I think.Heck my x300 runs like a striped a$$ ape. I am completely impressed w/ it. I run Doom 3 a lot it runs very well. I have no problems with ut2k4 either i play it with yahoo for voice. I am running it overclocked with omoega drivers extremely tweaked for a x300. 427/231 are my settings with ati tool. You are deffinately doing something wrong.
Are you sure we're talking about the SAME x300? :smileyvery-happy:
Just kidding. I had one and thought I was happy with it until I installed a 5900 and there was a huge difference. Never tried the Omegas or overclocking it, though. Be careful--there's no fan on that card and you might be greatly shortening it's lifespan by overheating it.
What? I can barely crack 1000 with '05. And that's running overclocked which I don't normally do. You'r emaking me wonder if I should try that x300 again. :smileywink:
What's the rest of your rig look like?

Ive got the exact same rig as you. To the T. P4 3.0, 1gb ddr2, 180 g7200 rpm hd, Only integrated audio. I have external card. Did you try the overclock settings I posted? I think the little thing runs great for what it is. What can you expect out of it its cheap I just got it so I could have 925x mobo.
I didn't have the cash for x800xt at the time but new pci-e was the way to go.
Yeah, when I ordered mine back in July, I thought the x300 was the way to go, too. The whole rig buried my old one in performance and I thought simply because it was the "new" PCIe interface it would be great. Frankly, I did like the x300 card for awhile. It ran Call of Duty pretty good. But once I finished that and tried FarCry and couldn't take advantage of the all the eye-candy, I was really bummed. That's why I've always bad-mouthed the x300--I got a game I couldn't run well just 2 weeks after getting the system and I started to pout!
Anyhow, the only retail PCIe card that you could find were the 5900 and 5700. they were going for less than $200 which was okay. Even if I could have found the x800xt, I wasn't ready to spend another $500+. When the price comes down I will, but I think my 5900 is great.
Never tried overclocking the card or running the Omegas (though I did on the 5900 until the 66.93 drivers came out). Also, at the time, the ATI driver was having major problems which I think the got fixed with 4.11. You're right though--overclock the heck out of the card...and if it burns up, it's only $50 to replace!
