8600 & ATI 9600 -> Graphical horizontal glitches or errors on screen during intensive GPU usage

Hi,

I've been browsing this forum since last year march and I waited long for a Pentium M combination with ATI 9600 to become available at Dell. I read the posts regarding the horizontal lines, but since there were a limited number of cases I had hoped that this was due to some sort of bad batch of the ATI GPU. I was a bit astonished to see the problem (which is now almost known for a month) arise on my new laptop during a 3DMark03 benchmark run. It is like a rain of horizontal lines appearing on the screen after 1-2 mins of intensive 3D usage or even DVD playback!
When I return to the desktop the glitches stop after a few minutes. I connected an external CRT screen to see if the problem arises also on the external output , but that does not seem to be the case. I have made a few pictures and 1 small movie to show what I'm talking about. On the pictures you see the LCD having horizontal lines on it and the CRT having a clean picture.

The system is still in the state as I received it two days ago with only 3DMark03 installed by myself withouth any further tampering by me. So I'm not considering restoring the Dell image of my machine or reinstalling it manually. I expect that Dell has delivered me an i8600 with the proper configuration and thoroughly tested in their labs. Of course this type of problem does never show up on their Dell Diagnostics since the system cannot perceive the output quality of the image.

Tomorrow I will contact Dell technical support about this issue, and I hope that there is a swift solution ready for this issue.

Anyways I'm absolutely not happy about having to lose my precious time to calling tech support while this issue has been reported here for almost a month.

Please, if any users (or dell forum mods) with the same issue could share their experience on how this problem got resolved in the end, it could make my call with tech support a bit more straight forward. I'm open for suggestions.

Thanks
