Alienware M18x R1 Wireless (driver?)
I cannot get the wireless to work on my laptop. I have tried every driver on the download section for my computer and nothing has worked for wireless. the only driver that works is the "Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)" and the wireless isn't working with that which makes me think it isn't a wireless driver. If it is can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong >.< been working on this for a while but I cant get it to work,
Also, I am an IT technician(mostly computers) by trade with A+ and Security+ so I do know troubleshooting but I also know that its usually something simple when you cant figure something out. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Yes I think it will help. I think I've been trying the right driver on the wrong hardware. I'll find out when I get home in a few hours

Looks like I'm still having issues with it. I had 2 unidentified hardware things in my device manager but I looked them up by their hardware ID and they were not the missing Wifi one (both of those are working now).
The objects I have in network adapters are as follows:
Atheros AR8581 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet ControllerBluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
there are no unidentified devices. I've check that Wifi is enabled in the BIOS. I have pushed the Wifi button at the top right of the laptop(above the keyboard) and it only seems to change the Bluetooth. I have no idea what to try next unless there is a secondary Wifi button I'm not seeing. If anyone has any Ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER and post the information back here.
Rick
My wireless adapter has always worked. Yes, I did have to reinstall the O/S a little while ago because of some malware/viruses. My entire laptop was inoperable at one point.
Are those instructions meant for me Rick? Or for the other person? 'Cause I'm not having any issues with my computer. I was just helping Skillet1990 out because he/she had the exact same system as me.

Hey, what wireless driver are you using?
