battery problem

hi i have an Inspiron 710m and now for the past 2 weeks i have not been about to fix my computer the problem is when i charge my laptop it doesn't seem to charge now is it a problem with the charge it self or is it the whole in which the charger goes in, another problem i am having when the plug is in insted of charging it decharges the battery and then once the battery reaches zero my laptop turns off can some one please help me

    In order:

     

    Try a new adapter

     

    Try a new battery

     

    and if neither fixes the issue, you're in for a mainboard repair or replacement.

    thank you for the information but i dont think its the adapter i think is the actual computer it self bc i have to hold the adapter cord a certain way in order for it to work and if i let go the my computer shout off please help

    If you're certain the problem isn't the adapter, see if surface rework shop can solder in a new jack - should cost about $150.

     

    Otherwise, you're in for a replacement mainboard - $ 400 or so plus the labor to install it.
