Blinking Caps Lock Light
I have a Latitude c840 that has an intermittent problem. If I have both DIMMs in the sockets (2 x 512MB) on occasions the system will lock up or blue screen and then when I try to reboot I won't get anything except a CAPS Lock light that blinks 10 times. I haven't been able to find any documentation on what the blinking light may mean.
If I only have one of the DIMMs in a socket (either DIMM or either socket) I don't seem to have the problem. I have tried "known good" memory without success.
My question is: has anyone come across this problem before, and/or does any one know what the blinking light means?
Thanks,
Derrick

I ended up replacing the System board and Processor. The Dell tech told me that this blinking light usually indicates a problem with the processor.
However, I was unable to find any documentation regarding the meaning of the blinking lights.

My Inspiron 8500 is doing the same thing (won't start - ZERO activity except for the CAPS LOCK indicator blinking 10 times). But I haven't done anything with the memory.
I'd also like to know what it means that it blinks 10 times.
