Hey, how's it going? I've had my laptop now for 3-4 years, never had a problem with it till this year. Now whenever I take it to classes, it decides that it won't boot either into windows or even sometimes past the bios. It started out that I was getting frequent BSOD and corrupt file errors when booting after carrying the laptop around. Normally after 30-60min of constant reboots, the diagnostic comes up and the problem dissapears till the next time I carry it somewhere. Now withing the last few days, I've been getting half way through the bios screen, long pause, and then the message "no bootable devices". Surprise 30-60min later, it boots fine. I've even had issues with windows reverting all user setting back to sp2 default, totally erasing all personal data (thank god for backups). Now, I've read this could be caused by a loose motherboard, I don't know what's going on. If this can't be solved then, after having to get Dell to replace a faulty LCD three times and shipping it to the opposite side of the country, I will bid farewell to Dell products. I'm running XP home (came with laptop, w/ 100% updates). I've also ruled out software, as I experimented with linux a few times and while faster, doesn't cure the boot issues.
