Broken Hinges
Hope I'll be able to get some help here!
Long story short, Inspiron 700m out of warranty. I accidentally knocked it off a table onto carpet - as a result screen detached from the base but only what appears to be the hinges are broken. The screen and top portion are still connected via the cables and the computer boots normally and display is fine.
How difficult would it be to order and replace the hinges myself? Dell won't even give me a quote without renewing my warranty policy (for $$). And even if the policy is renewed the repair is not covered by warranty anyways since it's not wear and tear. It seems like going through them is a Catch 22 all the way through.
Where would I be able to find a schematic of the 700m, and how can I order the parts to fix the hinge?
