After about a year and a half my Insperion 5100 died on me without having caused me any previous problems. I took it to the local Dell (or agent of) people who spent 2 hours on it and informed me that it is *probably* the motherboard and that it would cost me in the region of 450 (UK) pounds to fix.
Now, has anyone had any similar problem? The laptop started after two three presses on the ON button one day, a few more presses the next and eventually not at all. I am reluctant to throw it in the bin; after all it's only 18 months old!
So I am clasping at straws here, hoping that the technician who looked at my machine is not very good at his job and that all I need is to change a fuse out or something!
Any suggestion anyone to what I can do?
The laptop was bought on-line here in the UK.
