Hi, 5.1 would normally have more than one audio out for additional channels other than the single headphone output. Looking at your model, I would assume that it is a standard 2.1 output (stereo on 2 channels) and not 5.1.

I looked at the pictures in the owner's manual and agree with chaistt. Models with direct 5.1 output have 2 headphone jacks but yours only has one. Models with spdif have a 7 pin s-video jack but yours lacks it. It looks like you have regular stereo line out.
