My inspiron 1000 has problems charging with the AC adapter plugged in.  It seems like its moody.  Sometimes it will charge, sometimes it wont but for the most part it does not.  Typically i'll power up my laptop and the charging light will be off and come to see that it is running on battery power once it boots up and my adapter is plugged in firmly.  Now if i wiggle it a little bit or move it slightly, it will start charging but then if i move even a smidge it will set to not charging again.  It seems like it charges whenever it feels like it, which is barely ever.  Its getting really annoying because a lot of times my laptop will be under 10% battery power because it won't charge.    Now, ive called Dell previously about this and got  a new AC adapter AND a new battery and im still having the same problem.  So that can only mean its something internally. 

 

Ive also noticed that my laptop gets BURNING hot recently.  It started doing this around the same time the charging problems started occuring.  My fan feels like its not as strong as it used to be when i first got the laptop.  So im thinking maybe the internal charging problems have something to do with the fan not working correctly?  Im not really sure.  But can anybody shed some light on this, because im no longer under warranty and i dont know what to do.  I cant even be on my laptop for more than 10 minutes at a time anymore.
