I have an ongoing and irritating "occasional" problem with shutting the computer down.

When I shutdown the computer it doesn't turn off. It looks like it's shutdown but the ON light at the front of the laptop stays ON and won't go off.

I called Dell tech support the 1st time it happened and was told "that happens" and given a procedure to follow wherein I have to remove the battery, unplug the charger, etc.

When tech support said, "it happens" I didn't get the impression it would happen more than once a month - which it does. Here I am almost three years later still having this problem on a regular basis.

If anyone here can help me I would appreciate it very much.
