While it is booting and the display is smaller, hit the Fn + F7 keys together and see if that doesn't help. Whenever a new video driver is installed, this happens.

When the system is booting. The Windows XP loading screen comes up and looks fine. it's after booting from the login screen onwards, the screen is smaller. And it's not centered either. It's on the top left corner. Does this happen to anyone else? Thanks.

I am now having the same problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 8100, with windows XP. for some reason, the desktop is not centerd. Instead it seems to be more toward the right and down of the screen. When I choose higer resolution, the right and bottom of the desktop extends beyond the physical screen, so I no longer can see the START at the bottom. Please help
