Keyboard problem

After less than 3 months of use on our Inspiron 1200, the backspace key returns a ''t'' on the screen and the Enter key returns a V. The last problem is intermittent while the backspace problem is there 90% of the time.

Any idea on the source of the problem and how to fix it? Other than getting an external USB keyboard?

I too am having an issue, all of a sudden, my backspace key is now typing a "t", my space bar types a "b" my enter types a "v".  It looks like the keyboard needs to be reprogrammed, but I can not find in any of the help how to go about doing this.  Any suggestions??

    Yes,

I call the Dell Technical center and talked to a gentleman in India who walked me through the process. You need to disconnect the keyboard from inside and replug it after a couple minutes. It reinitialized the keyboard. Great help from Dell and India.

As far as how to get inside the laptop (I presume) first turn off the laptop and remove the battery.

Then unscrew the 2 screws at the two extremities on the narrow back side of the laptop next to the power outlet on the right and on the other side.

Open the cover. The next step is to remove the narrow strip above the keyboard by jiggling with the hinges at the back. When the strip is removed, you have access to the keyboard, disconnect it. Wait a couple minutes and reconnect the keyboard. Go over the previous steps in reverse order. Good luck!
