Laptop problems

Hi,

I recently bought a XPS 17 3D Laptop. The shopkeeper did not have extra laptop for sale so he gave me the laptop that was there on showcase for customers; they told that they had just received the laptop and it's working fine. I accepted what they said and bought the laptop.

Now I am facing a 3D issue in the laptop. When I am viewing through the active 3D Glasses, the right eye seems to activate earlier than the left eye (not all the time, but in most cases). And I get a ghosting image on the screen where a PART OF THE IMAGE appears to be 3D, the rest are completely blurred.

I have a doubt that the 3D Glass is not right. But some say that the emitter has the problem, but if that's so then how can the 3D work in certain times? Please suggest what should I do? Will I replace the 3D Glasses or go for the IR Emitter investigation?

I am also getting around 10,100 3DMarks 06 on my laptop. Is this score okay? My configuration is as follows:

Processor: 2630QM
RAM: 6GB DDR3
Graphics: Nvidia GT555M 3D Version 3GB
Hard Disk: 1TB (2 hard drives)

Please help me in this. I am very concerned whether the shopkeeper gave me a proper laptop or not :(

Thanks,
Niladri

There isnt such a thing as a partial emitter for the screen so I would say its the glasses.

Sorry I didn't get it, what's a partial emitter? I was talking about the emitter that's there at the base of the display on XPS 17. Is it the glass's fault or the emitter's that's on the display panel?

All right then I will check with my local Dell service center and change the 3D Glasses.

I was having a doubt that the emitter was defective and it's timing is wrong... so that's not the case here?

Thanks a lot for the help

There is only 1 emitter for the entire screen.  If part of the screen or left side or right side does not work then the glasses are defective.  There IS NOT an emitter for left side then right side.

    Hi neo4evr,

I know its more than a year after you posted, but i have been facing problems with my 3d glasses recently which were provided with the xps17 laptop. My question is did the dell service center replace the glasses for you honoring your warranty?

Also after changing the glasses, did ur problem go away? it will be very helpful if u reply.

    thanks..
