Plugged in or not?

Hello!

I am sure this topic has been discussed somewhere before but obviously I am not a very good searcher, as I could not find it.

My question is -  I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. The battery life is great. I really enjoy being able to work for 8 hours without having to worry about the battery running out. However, I was wondering - when the battery is fully loaded and when I have a choice, is it better to keep the laptop plugged in or not? Which option is better, if I want to enjoy the same 7-8-hour battery life also in the future?

    Hi askor81,

    Welcome to Dell Community.

The life of your battery is not affected by keeping your computer plugged into a power outlet for long periods. However, a decrease in performance is expected if your battery is over one year old.

You Can Preserve your battery charge by following the steps.
    • Move your files from CD, DVD, CD-RW, and external storage drives to the internal hard drive, whenever   possible.
    • Close all unnecessary programs when not in use.
    • Decrease the screen brightness by pressing Fn+Down Arrow.
    • Turn off the backlit feature on your keyboard if applicable.

Let me know if you need more help and we'll be happy to help.
